Elizabeth Salazar is an international development practitioner and gender advisor. She is a Technical Specialist for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment at the National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA CLUSA). Her work focuses on international development programs in the areas of economic growth and livelihoods, cooperative business development, and food security and agriculture. Her experience includes supporting women’s economic empowerment with an interest in women’s decision-making related to control of resources and profits. At NCBA CLUSA she leads the Gender Working Group and provides guidance and technical assistance on gender integration and mainstreaming, including addressing gender and women’s empowerment using a human rights framework. She has led and supported gendered value chain analyses, gender analyses and assessments to build on the research for understanding gender dynamics and women’s needs and challenges for economic participation, leadership, and growth. She has supported projects in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. She holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights and Social Justice.
